Early Kayaking…early Spring experiences

An avid Kayaker,  Kim, headed out to Holly Recreation area on one of the rare, early warm days recently. The mixture of Winter giving way to Spring is one of those things us Michiganders get to experience, that much of the country does not.

Kim ran into completely frozen areas of the lakes she Kayaked. And in other areas, the water warm enough for the biggest of Snapping turtles to be digging out of the Muck and mud to get ready for his gorging of Spring foods, after a long winter, food-less hibernation.

She seen the first signs of Lilly-pads sprouting underwater, and a Swan couple claiming their corner of one of the lake bays. Take a look at some of Kim’s Kayak pictures and see if she became the boat and disappeared into what was the nature of the lakes she was floating on.

Kim will be one of our Guides and Kayak instructors for some of our North/Central group Canoe/Kayaking adventures this year. You will enjoy her calm as she floats her kayak along, becoming part of her surroundings.
